About VHM inserts

The insert is the replaceable combustion chamber inside the VHM cylinder head. By swapping inserts you quickly change the compression – just loosen the head, take it off and change the insert.

Rule of thumb (starting from the VHM standard insert):

  • A step higher compression (less volume): more pulling power / bottom-end torque, but a higher risk of detonation.
  • A step lower compression (more volume): less pulling power, calmer, and more ability to rev out at high rpm, with less risk of detonation.

As with everything on a two-stroke there is a limit and there are exceptions, so treat this as a guideline, not an exact rule.
